Isa
2:20-22 (ESV) In that day mankind will cast away
their
idols of silver and their idols of gold,
which
they made for themselves to worship,
to the
moles and to the bats,
21 to enter the caverns of the rocks
and the
clefts of the cliffs,
from
before the terror of the Lord,
and
from the splendor of his majesty,
when he rises to terrify the earth.
22 Stop regarding man
in whose nostrils is breath,
for of
what account is he?
NOTE: We think of
ourselves, our accomplishments, our intelligence as so great these days. Our
idols though are still idols of silver and gold. And when our lives are
threatened, we will quickly abandon the things we have put so much trust in, in
order to hide. Just like Adam, we will hide from God because we know we have
displeased him. Rather than seeking safety in his arms, we will seek safety
from his arms. When will we realize that we are not so brilliant or so great?
We really do not have the answers to life. Science is a great tool, but it does
not tell us that God does not exist. It does not explain existence, truly. And
in reality, more often than not, it tells us what we don't want to hear, that
we are wonderfully made. When will we stop regarding ourselves and start
regarding the God of the universe?
