Romans 15:28–33 (ESV) —
28 When therefore I have completed this and have delivered to them what has been collected, I will leave for Spain by way of you. 29 I know that when I come to you I will come in the fullness of the blessing of Christ.
30 I appeal to you, brothers, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to strive together with me in your prayers to God on my behalf, 31 that I may be delivered from the unbelievers in Judea, and that my service for Jerusalem may be acceptable to the saints, 32 so that by God’s will I may come to you with joy and be refreshed in your company. 33 May the God of peace be with you all. Amen.
NOTE: I have been very sick these last couple of weeks. I feel like I am only now recovering. These last two QTs are two I missed last week.
As I mentioned in the previous QT, Paul did not know that his plans were different from God's plan. And his desire for his visit did not turn out quite as he had planned. A riot ensued, multiple attempts were made on his life, he was in prison for two years, and then almost drowned trying to get to Rome. He would then spend time in house captivity chained to a Roman soldier. God's plan was different than Paul's plan. One thing that did happen is that Paul was able to share the gospel to many Roman leaders. It was against the law to try to convert a Roman citizen to a different faith, but because of the situation and arrest, Paul had to testify before kings and rulers why he was on trial.
Our life may not be going the way we desire, but if we have a relationship with Jesus, we can be assured that God's plan is better and God has a good reason. Trust him and have faith that he knows what he is doing.
PONDER:
- Do I believe God's plan is better than my plan?
- Am I looking to see what God is really doing in my life right now?
PRAYER: Father, help me to rest in your control. Life may seem out of control, but you know what you are doing. I need to trust and have faith in you first.
