Romans 10:17–21 (ESV) —
17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.
18 But I ask, have they not heard? Indeed they have, for
“Their voice has gone out to all the earth,
and their words to the ends of the world.”
19 But I ask, did Israel not understand? First Moses says,
“I will make you jealous of those who are not a nation;
with a foolish nation I will make you angry.”
20 Then Isaiah is so bold as to say,
“I have been found by those who did not seek me;
I have shown myself to those who did not ask for me.”
21 But of Israel he says, “All day long I have held out my hands to a disobedient and contrary people.”
NOTE: Ps 19 says that God's voice, his creation, has gone out to the ends of the earth. For that reason alone, everyone has heard of God. Israel, most of all, has heard the message in many forms and in many ways, the most recent being the Son of God himself. Israel rejected the Messiah on earth and so nearly 2000 years has passed in disobedience. God is not finished with Israel as verses 25-27 will explain. Today is the day of the Gentiles and a remnant of Israel, that together compose the church. But the church age is coming to a close. The signs of the end times increase. Israel needs to take heed. Satan wants to destroy the nation still. Israel needs to confess and turn back to the Lord before the day of God's judgement strikes.
PONDER:
- Are we bold in sharing the gospel to everyone, especially Jews?
- God is not slow with fulfilling his promises, in other words, the will find fulfillment, am I ready?
PRAYER: The days are closing quick. Help me to use these days in service and as a witness for Jesus.
