Revelation 1:17–18 (ESV) —
17 When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his
right hand on me, saying, “Fear not, I am the first and the last, 18 and the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I
have the keys of Death and Hades.
|
A person
calls himself "the living one. I died and behold I am alive forevermore,
…" There is no doubt on the identity of this person. It is Jesus.
|
Jesus
holds the keys to death and Hades. We think those keys are within our
technological reach, but they are not. God is in control of life. Jesus'
life, miracles, and resurrection attest to his supernatural claims. One
cannot put their head in the sand and pretend it did not happen. That is just
wishful thinking.
|
Father,
thank you not only for my salvation but the testimony in my heart that you
are alive. You are at work. And you are bringing the world to a conclusion.

These are just some random entries from my quiet times. Not all are included, as some are private or not very interesting.
Notice on a slight format change:
Except for July 2012, these are mostly a collection of current devotional notes.
July 2012 is a re-write of old quiet times. My second child was born Nov 11, 1987 with multiple birth defects. I've been re-reading my QT notes from that time in my life, and have included them here. They cover the time before the birth and the few years immediately after the birth. They are tagged "historical." I added new insights and labeled them: ((TODAY, dd mmm yy)).
