Notice on a slight format change:

Except for July 2012, these are mostly a collection of current devotional notes.

July 2012 is a re-write of old quiet times. My second child was born Nov 11, 1987 with multiple birth defects. I've been re-reading my QT notes from that time in my life, and have included them here. They cover the time before the birth and the few years immediately after the birth. They are tagged "historical." I added new insights and labeled them: ((TODAY, dd mmm yy)).

QT 17 Dec 18, 2 Cor 3:7-8, We need new hearts not efforts

2 Corinthians 3:7–8 (ESV) — 7 Now if the ministry of death, carved in letters on stone, came with such glory that the Israelites could not gaze at Moses’ face because of its glory, which was being brought to an end, 8 will not the ministry of the Spirit have even more glory?

NOTE: The ten commandments is pictured as the ministry of death. Why do we give it such attention? The ministry of the Spirit is so much greater. Yes, the ten commandments are good rules to live life, but there is something far greater for living life, the Holy Spirit. Because we need changed hearts, not just changed behavior. In fact if we have really been changed in heart, our lives will reflect the indwelling spirit, and so our behavior will change too.

PRAYER: Father, I really felt your Holy Spirit at work on Sunday. Please continue that work in our body. Change us, mold us, renew us in the likeness of Jesus.
