July 2012 is a re-write of old quiet times. My second child was born Nov 11, 1987 with multiple birth defects. I've been re-reading my QT notes from that time in my life, and have included them here. They cover the time before the birth and the few years immediately after the birth. They are tagged "historical." I added new insights and labeled them: ((TODAY, dd mmm yy)).

2 Timothy 3:7 (ESV) — always learning and never able to arrive at a knowledge of the truth.
This is the danger of bible teaching without application. Men like this disqualify themselves from the faith (vs 8). This is our religious culture of today -- people who know the word but do not live it out.
Father, protect me from such a sin. I want to be a doer of the word and not a hearer only. I do not want to deceive myself into thinking of myself as ever having arrived. There are so many more ways I can grow and change and become the man you want me to be. Keep my heart tender and my spirit open to your quiet whisper.
