Notice on a slight format change:

Except for July 2012, these are mostly a collection of current devotional notes.

July 2012 is a re-write of old quiet times. My second child was born Nov 11, 1987 with multiple birth defects. I've been re-reading my QT notes from that time in my life, and have included them here. They cover the time before the birth and the few years immediately after the birth. They are tagged "historical." I added new insights and labeled them: ((TODAY, dd mmm yy)).

QT 10/17/2023 Mark 1:29-34, The miracles are a historical fact

Mark 1:29–34 (ESV) —

29 And immediately he left the synagogue and entered the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John. 30 Now Simon’s mother-in-law lay ill with a fever, and immediately they told him about her. 31 And he came and took her by the hand and lifted her up, and the fever left her, and she began to serve them.

32 That evening at sundown they brought to him all who were sick or oppressed by demons. 33 And the whole city was gathered together at the door. 34 And he healed many who were sick with various diseases, and cast out many demons. And he would not permit the demons to speak, because they knew him.

NOTE: Jesus' miracles were not private things that only a few knew about. While Simon's mother-in-law may have been partially private, the people knew of Jesus miraculous powers. The miracles were part of God's divine marker. He was making it very clear that something new was happening that had not happened in hundreds of years. Jesus' miracles are a very unique aspect of Jesus as compared to every other so-called prophet. None had the number, intensity, or observability of Jesus' miracles. Their historical authenticity cannot be denied. Only those who refuse to believe in God pretend they are not true. While God still does miracles and healings today, they are not as pronounced and mostly private. The message was made very clear almost 2000 years ago. There is no excuse. Evolution does not explain our creation, no matter how hard people try to come up with an explanation. We are created by God. We need to confess our sin, and turn from our rebellion -- only then can we experience the peace of God in our lives.

PONDER:

  1. Do I ever mention the miracles in discussions? There are a historical fact. People must deal with facts.

PRAYER: Father, thank you for being so obvious. Thank for the Holy Spirit that has drastically changed the man I am. Thank you for salvation. I look forward to your future kingdom.
