Isa
40:1-5
|
Isaiah 40:1,3 (ESV) — 1 Comfort, comfort my people, says your God. …
3 A voice cries:
“In the wilderness prepare the way of the Lord;
make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
|
God
promises to comfort his people. Verse 2 says that they have been paid for
twice over. And then verse 3 prophesies John's ministry preceding the
Messiah.
|
I wonder
if the comfort and the "paid for-sin" is really Jesus. We really
can't pay for our sins. Although I suppose the punishment for actions can be
finite, the spiritual cost is infinite. But God comforts his people with the
words, that a savior is coming. For us, the savior has already come. Comfort
is available for all who will turn from their sins and confess Jesus as their
savior. It sits out there awaiting all who will humble themselves.
|
Thank
you Lord for the comfort I have in Jesus and his payment for all my sins,
past, present, and future. I am so grateful and so comforted by that
knowledge.

These are just some random entries from my quiet times. Not all are included, as some are private or not very interesting.
Notice on a slight format change:
Except for July 2012, these are mostly a collection of current devotional notes.
July 2012 is a re-write of old quiet times. My second child was born Nov 11, 1987 with multiple birth defects. I've been re-reading my QT notes from that time in my life, and have included them here. They cover the time before the birth and the few years immediately after the birth. They are tagged "historical." I added new insights and labeled them: ((TODAY, dd mmm yy)).
