Isa
40:12-17
|
Isaiah 40:12 (ESV) — Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his
hand // and marked off the heavens with a span,
enclosed the dust of the earth in a measure // and
weighed the mountains in scales // and the hills in a balance?
|
This
verse and the verses that follow describe the immensity of God. The picture
is intended to exceed our imagination. The conclusion of the paragraph is
that the nations are a drop in a bucket to God, barely containing any
significance.
|
And yet,
who is man that you God are mindful of him? We are nothing in the grand scale
of the universe, even less than nothing. And yet God loves us supremely. We
are on his thoughts and we are loved.
|
Father,
I am humbled by your attention. I cannot understand it. I can't fathom it.
The understanding is beyond my comprehension. All I can do is fall on my face
and so most feebly, Thank You Lord.

These are just some random entries from my quiet times. Not all are included, as some are private or not very interesting.
Notice on a slight format change:
Except for July 2012, these are mostly a collection of current devotional notes.
July 2012 is a re-write of old quiet times. My second child was born Nov 11, 1987 with multiple birth defects. I've been re-reading my QT notes from that time in my life, and have included them here. They cover the time before the birth and the few years immediately after the birth. They are tagged "historical." I added new insights and labeled them: ((TODAY, dd mmm yy)).
