Romans 9:8 (ESV) — This means that it is not the children of the flesh
who are the children of God, but the children of the promise are counted as
offspring.
|
It is not who you
are or what religious heritage you share that makes a person a true child of
God. It is not the church you visit or how much you are involved that makes
you a child of God. Verses 4 and 5 show that Israel had it all. And they
failed. And they are not children of God. There is a remnant who believed,
who are children of God. But becoming a child of God is dependent on a
relationship with Jesus Christ which can only be obtained by faith.
|
Father, help us to
realize that it is not church attendance or church involvement that saves us
and gives us eternal life. It is a whole-hearted response to the gospel that
saves us and nothing else. There are so many in our churches today who are
deceived by a false gospel. Open our eyes, I pray.

These are just some random entries from my quiet times. Not all are included, as some are private or not very interesting.
Notice on a slight format change:
Except for July 2012, these are mostly a collection of current devotional notes.
July 2012 is a re-write of old quiet times. My second child was born Nov 11, 1987 with multiple birth defects. I've been re-reading my QT notes from that time in my life, and have included them here. They cover the time before the birth and the few years immediately after the birth. They are tagged "historical." I added new insights and labeled them: ((TODAY, dd mmm yy)).
