Matthew 7:22–23 (ESV) —
22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in
your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your
name?’ 23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew
you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’

Why is it so hard
to believe? It is not works, but a relationship that is critical to becoming
a Christian, hence "I never knew you." Jesus said eternal life if
knowing God. Acting good or doing good deeds or being involved in a church
does not save a person. Salvation requires a life-changing relationship. And
where they is no relationship, one must wonder, is there a new creation? And,
a person must ask himself, am I really a Christian?

Father, thank you
for the remarkable change you have brought about in my life. Thank you for my
sensitivity to sin. Thank you for our times in the word together. Thank you
for the inner peace that you give me. Lord, Thank YOU!

These are just some random entries from my quiet times. Not all are included, as some are private or not very interesting.
Notice on a slight format change:
Except for July 2012, these are mostly a collection of current devotional notes.
July 2012 is a re-write of old quiet times. My second child was born Nov 11, 1987 with multiple birth defects. I've been re-reading my QT notes from that time in my life, and have included them here. They cover the time before the birth and the few years immediately after the birth. They are tagged "historical." I added new insights and labeled them: ((TODAY, dd mmm yy)).
