Matthew 11:17–19 (ESV) — “ ‘We played the flute for you, and you did
not dance; // we sang a dirge, and you did not mourn.’ 18 For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, ‘He has a
demon.’ 19 The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they
say, ‘Look at him! A glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and
sinners!’ Yet wisdom is justified by her deeds.”

When someone does
not want to believe, they will never be satisfied. There will always be an
excuse, a reason, an experience that keeps them from the truth. People choose
to rebel against God. They have been infected by Adam's sin, but that is not
an excuse for rejection of salvation. Our responsibility is to share the
gospel in a gentle and kind manner. While our heart aches to see loved ones
and friends respond to the gospel, the only other thing we can do is pray.
They must make a choice of their free will.
|
Father, help us to
see our responsibility to share and pray for others. We can't make anyone a
believer, but we can be faithful to live in a manner that does not provide
excuses for others not to believe.

These are just some random entries from my quiet times. Not all are included, as some are private or not very interesting.
Notice on a slight format change:
Except for July 2012, these are mostly a collection of current devotional notes.
July 2012 is a re-write of old quiet times. My second child was born Nov 11, 1987 with multiple birth defects. I've been re-reading my QT notes from that time in my life, and have included them here. They cover the time before the birth and the few years immediately after the birth. They are tagged "historical." I added new insights and labeled them: ((TODAY, dd mmm yy)).
