Notice on a slight format change:

Except for July 2012, these are mostly a collection of current devotional notes.

July 2012 is a re-write of old quiet times. My second child was born Nov 11, 1987 with multiple birth defects. I've been re-reading my QT notes from that time in my life, and have included them here. They cover the time before the birth and the few years immediately after the birth. They are tagged "historical." I added new insights and labeled them: ((TODAY, dd mmm yy)).

QT 18 Dec 19, 1 Pet 4:4-5, The Word is our guidepost

1 Peter 4:4–5 (ESV) — 4 With respect to this they are surprised when you do not join them in the same flood of debauchery, and they malign you; 5 but they will give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.

NOTE: I think the world is surprised because deep down they feel the shame of their sin. The more people who join them, the better they feel. Almost like, misery loves company, except in the case it is, sinners enjoy more sinners. We will be maligned and attacked, because if the world does not attack, then they have acknowledged us right, and them wrong. The ways to avoid being wrong is to convince yourself you are right, involve yourself with people who think like you, attack those who don't, and most importantly, ignore God's Word. I say the latter because religious people can make the same above mistakes as the irreligious, and only the Word of God illuminated by the Holy Spirit can save us from our sinful flesh.

PRAYER: Father, protect us from the pride that makes us think we are always right. We are not right because we are believers. We are right when we truthfully follow the teachings of the Word of God.
