Notice on a slight format change:

Except for July 2012, these are mostly a collection of current devotional notes.

July 2012 is a re-write of old quiet times. My second child was born Nov 11, 1987 with multiple birth defects. I've been re-reading my QT notes from that time in my life, and have included them here. They cover the time before the birth and the few years immediately after the birth. They are tagged "historical." I added new insights and labeled them: ((TODAY, dd mmm yy)).

QT 6 Dec 19, 1 Pet 2:11-12, Our witness is so important to the life of the Christian

1 Peter 2:11–12 (ESV) — 11 Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul. 12 Keep your conduct among the Gentiles honorable, so that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day of visitation.

NOTE: Our witness is so important. Outside of glorifying God, there may be no more important aspect to our life. And part of the reason our witness is important is that it glorifies God as well. But our witness has an impact on others, and as a result, others may glorify God someday as well. When we compromise moral commands or try to fit in with worldly mores, we dishonor God as well as misrepresent the gospel. This is our primary mission. We are not needed in the kingdom if we are not willing to live according to the Spirit.

PRAYER: Father, I pray we might all understand why it is so important to live according to Christian morals. As believers, give us a strong and beautiful witness to those around us. May they see the love of Christ through our actions and through our choices.
