Notice on a slight format change:

Except for July 2012, these are mostly a collection of current devotional notes.

July 2012 is a re-write of old quiet times. My second child was born Nov 11, 1987 with multiple birth defects. I've been re-reading my QT notes from that time in my life, and have included them here. They cover the time before the birth and the few years immediately after the birth. They are tagged "historical." I added new insights and labeled them: ((TODAY, dd mmm yy)).

QT 26 Feb 2020, Luke 8:19-21, The most important family is the Heavenly one

Luke 8:19–21 (ESV) — 19 Then his mother and his brothers came to him, but they could not reach him because of the crowd. 20 And he was told, “Your mother and your brothers are standing outside, desiring to see you.” 21 But he answered them, “My mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God and do it.”

NOTE: At some point and maybe always, Jesus' true family became the family of God. I'm sure he loved and cared for his family, but they were his earthly family, temporal, and seen. His true family, those who have faith in God is eternal and not all seen (since some have passed on). The family of God must ultimately take precedence even over our earthly family. That is very hard to think or even contemplate. At least we feel loved in our earthly family, but certainly not always loved by the family of God. And yet, the Father, the Son, and the Spirit love us in a manner that even our earthly family could never love us. It is absolute for a believer, and unchanging. It knows no boundaries and the size cannot be measured.

PRAYER: Father, thank you for the sacrifice of your son, and the love that has been bestowed on one as unworthy as I.
