Notice on a slight format change:

Except for July 2012, these are mostly a collection of current devotional notes.

July 2012 is a re-write of old quiet times. My second child was born Nov 11, 1987 with multiple birth defects. I've been re-reading my QT notes from that time in my life, and have included them here. They cover the time before the birth and the few years immediately after the birth. They are tagged "historical." I added new insights and labeled them: ((TODAY, dd mmm yy)).

QT 4 Sep 19, 1 Tim 6:13-14, The good confession is that Jesus is truth

1 Timothy 6:13–14 (ESV) — 13 I charge you in the presence of God, who gives life to all things, and of Christ Jesus, who in his testimony before Pontius Pilate made the good confession, 14 to keep the commandment unstained and free from reproach until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ,

NOTE: What was the good confession Jesus made in his testimony before Pontius Pilate? There are two possibilities. One, that Jesus was a King and two, that Jesus bears witness to the truth. In fact, Jesus says that is why he was born into this world as a king (of another heavenly kingdom), to bear witness to truth. Everything Jesus says is truth. Pilate's question, "what is truth?" is an expression of Roman and Greek philosophy. How can one know absolute truth? Everyone has a different opinion on what is true. How can one truth be better than another truth? Jesus' life, as the God-man, is the absolute expression of truth. Jesus says to his disciples near the end of his life, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father but through me." Jesus is the elusive truth that Pilate sought . And that ultimate truth stood before Pilate physically and visually. But Pilate did not realize what was happening.

PRAYER: Father, we are often oblivious to what you are doing in the world. We don't even do a good job listening to your word, which is also absolute truth. Open our ears and eyes to the absolute truth you have revealed and you have given us. May we be doers and not just hearers.
