Notice on a slight format change:

Except for July 2012, these are mostly a collection of current devotional notes.

July 2012 is a re-write of old quiet times. My second child was born Nov 11, 1987 with multiple birth defects. I've been re-reading my QT notes from that time in my life, and have included them here. They cover the time before the birth and the few years immediately after the birth. They are tagged "historical." I added new insights and labeled them: ((TODAY, dd mmm yy)).

QT 23 Jan 2020, Luke 4:12-13, Do the right thing

Luke 4:12–13 (ESV) — 12 And Jesus answered him, “It is said, ‘You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.’ ” 13 And when the devil had ended every temptation, he departed from him until an opportune time.

NOTE: Jesus answered every temptation of the Devil using the word of God, even while the enemy was misusing God's word to tempt him. A theme in my life is "do the right thing." Of course, sometimes it is easier to say that than to do it because figuring out what the right thing is, is not easy. Ultimately, we must apply God's word as Jesus did. We need to take the issue to God in prayer. If we still doubt, we need to seek the counsel of godly leaders. Finally, we need to just do it -- the right thing -- and let the chips fall where they may. God is in control of this very sinful world. It doesn't seem like it at times, but he promises to work for good in all things for those who love him and are called according to his purpose.

PRAYER: Lord, help us to trust you and wait upon you. Give us eyes to see the good that you are bringing about. Help us also to be patient to see the good.
