Luke 4:12–13 (ESV) — 12 And Jesus answered him, “It is said, ‘You shall not
put the Lord your God to the test.’ ” 13 And when the
devil had ended every temptation, he departed from him until an opportune time.
NOTE: Jesus answered
every temptation of the Devil using the word of God, even while the enemy was
misusing God's word to tempt him. A theme in my life is "do the right
thing." Of course, sometimes it is easier to say that than to do it
because figuring out what the right thing is, is not easy. Ultimately, we must
apply God's word as Jesus did. We need to take the issue to God in prayer. If
we still doubt, we need to seek the counsel of godly leaders. Finally, we need
to just do it -- the right thing -- and let the chips fall where they may. God
is in control of this very sinful world. It doesn't seem like it at times, but
he promises to work for good in all things for those who love him and are
called according to his purpose.
PRAYER: Lord, help
us to trust you and wait upon you. Give us eyes to see the good that you are
bringing about. Help us also to be patient to see the good.
