Notice on a slight format change:

Except for July 2012, these are mostly a collection of current devotional notes.

July 2012 is a re-write of old quiet times. My second child was born Nov 11, 1987 with multiple birth defects. I've been re-reading my QT notes from that time in my life, and have included them here. They cover the time before the birth and the few years immediately after the birth. They are tagged "historical." I added new insights and labeled them: ((TODAY, dd mmm yy)).

QT 28 Jan 2020, Luke 4:32-34, God's word is the primary source of truth about life

Luke 4:32–34 (ESV) — 32 and they were astonished at his teaching, for his word possessed authority. 33 And in the synagogue there was a man who had the spirit of an unclean demon, and he cried out with a loud voice, 34 “Ha! What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God.”

NOTE: This is at least the second passage where people were amazed at his teaching. Jesus' words possessed authority. What does that mean? Maybe, you knew that his word was true. You were convicted in your heart. Or even, you could not deny the facts. And what does Satan do, he distracts. I think that was the intent. But telling everyone that the person is God does not seem to help Satan's cause either. Jesus was God and he visited Earth 2000 years ago. He died for humanity, and he offers us freedom from slavery to sin. Today, we are attacking truth from every angle. But truth remains. The bible is the primary source of truth on how to live life. And someday, God will judge the entire world because they refused to believe and to repent of their sins.

PRAYER: Father, give me the right words to stand up for truth even within the rules and confines of society.
