Acts 17:30–31 (ESV) — 30 The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now he
commands all people everywhere to repent, 31 because he
has fixed a day on which he will judge the world in righteousness by a man
whom he has appointed; and of this he has given assurance to all by raising
him from the dead.”
|
The world is not
the way God intended. In the garden, God gave us what we wanted, independence
from his rule (his commands) and he also gave us the consequences. It is easy
to look at the pain in the world and wonder if God exists. But the reality is
that the pain in the world is intended to remind us of our rebellion and our
need to repent. God is not pleased with evil. He has fixed a day to judge the
earth by Jesus. He will restore the earth as he intended with him ruling and
it will be far different than what we experience today. But the key is that
we need to repent of the rebellion that we are part.
|
Father, open our
eyes to our own evil. Help us to patiently wait for the day when you will
restore all things. May we stand up against the evil in the world in the
meantime. Let us not shrink back. What you call sin, is sin. It is not good.
It is nothing to be prideful about.

These are just some random entries from my quiet times. Not all are included, as some are private or not very interesting.
Notice on a slight format change:
Except for July 2012, these are mostly a collection of current devotional notes.
July 2012 is a re-write of old quiet times. My second child was born Nov 11, 1987 with multiple birth defects. I've been re-reading my QT notes from that time in my life, and have included them here. They cover the time before the birth and the few years immediately after the birth. They are tagged "historical." I added new insights and labeled them: ((TODAY, dd mmm yy)).
