Matthew 28:8 (ESV) — So they departed quickly from the tomb with fear
and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples.

How does anyone
respond to angels telling you that a person, different from anyone you ever
knew, has risen from the dead. He is going before you and will meet you back
at your home in Galilee. Fear, yes. And great joy, yes. In fact, unbelievable
joy. And with that, tremendous tears. It seems almost too unbelievable and
too great. But it is true, my savior rose from the dead. He conquered death,
the most difficult of all the punishments we received after rebelling in the
garden. What an amazing day in history. What an amazing day for all of us who
believe. He is the Firstfruits of a much larger harvest which will include
all those who believe.

Father, it is
glorious news. I can feel the joy and fear of the ladies in my own heart.
What glorious news. And how unworthy we are to share in the resurrection. But
thanks be to Jesus, whose death has removed our sin and paid the penalty of
our rebellion.

These are just some random entries from my quiet times. Not all are included, as some are private or not very interesting.
Notice on a slight format change:
Except for July 2012, these are mostly a collection of current devotional notes.
July 2012 is a re-write of old quiet times. My second child was born Nov 11, 1987 with multiple birth defects. I've been re-reading my QT notes from that time in my life, and have included them here. They cover the time before the birth and the few years immediately after the birth. They are tagged "historical." I added new insights and labeled them: ((TODAY, dd mmm yy)).
