Notice on a slight format change:

Except for July 2012, these are mostly a collection of current devotional notes.

July 2012 is a re-write of old quiet times. My second child was born Nov 11, 1987 with multiple birth defects. I've been re-reading my QT notes from that time in my life, and have included them here. They cover the time before the birth and the few years immediately after the birth. They are tagged "historical." I added new insights and labeled them: ((TODAY, dd mmm yy)).

QT 27 Nov 19, 1 Pet 1:8-9, We don't see God today, but we do see life without God today

1 Peter 1:8–9 (ESV) — 8 Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory, 9 obtaining the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

NOTE: In the first century, many of the believers saw Jesus. Other believers knew eyewitnesses to the facts. Today, there are no eyewitnesses. There is no one who has seen Jesus. We do have the experience of the Holy Spirit. That is, we see the change the HS brings into our life. We feel the comfort of his presence. But, we do not see him. Jesus said as much to Nicodemus when he told him that the Spirit is like the wind, you see the effects of the wind, but you do not see the wind. Our faith then is based on two foundations, the logical truth of scripture, and the life changing presence of God in our life. It is not a leap in the dark. It never has been.

PRAYER: Father, another indication of your truth is the sad state of our world today as we depart further from your truth. Open our blinded eyes to see that our human solutions to life are not making us better but are destroying the very fabric of our souls and persons.
