Notice on a slight format change:

Except for July 2012, these are mostly a collection of current devotional notes.

July 2012 is a re-write of old quiet times. My second child was born Nov 11, 1987 with multiple birth defects. I've been re-reading my QT notes from that time in my life, and have included them here. They cover the time before the birth and the few years immediately after the birth. They are tagged "historical." I added new insights and labeled them: ((TODAY, dd mmm yy)).

QT 3/7/2024 Ps 37:21-29, Confident in the future

Psalm 37:21–29 (ESV) —

21 The wicked borrows but does not pay back,

but the righteous is generous and gives;

22 for those blessed by the Lord shall inherit the land,

but those cursed by him shall be cut off.

23 The steps of a man are established by the Lord,

when he delights in his way;

24 though he fall, he shall not be cast headlong,

for the Lord upholds his hand.

25 I have been young, and now am old,

yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken

or his children begging for bread.

26 He is ever lending generously,

and his children become a blessing.

27 Turn away from evil and do good;

so shall you dwell forever.

28 For the Lord loves justice;

he will not forsake his saints.

They are preserved forever,

but the children of the wicked shall be cut off.

29 The righteous shall inherit the land

and dwell upon it forever.

NOTE: In this passage, the focus of justice is how the wicked treat the righteous (vs 28). We can lend and are not hurt by the person who does not repay because we have an immeasurable eternal reward. We don't have to worry about what happens, even missteps and failures are short adventures because God has prepared our way for us.

I was young and now am old, I don't know what my last quarter of life holds for me, but I am at peace. I know that I must act and use my days wisely. They must not be spent upon myself, but must be spent in service to others. I see myself volunteering, leading the discipleship ministry, and teaching. Next year, when I am allowed to make money again, I would like to teach math to expand my ministry outreach. These are wonderful days, and as such, it is important to remember God even more. I have time to pray and I must. I have the time to do good and I must.

PONDER:

What is the plan for the future? Am I looking to God for answers?

PRAYER: Father, the boundary lines have fallen in pleasant places. Use me for good in the lives of others. I want to use these remaining years for ministry and helping others. And just in case I am missing something, help me to see your plan for me.
