Psalm 85:4–7 (ESV) —
4 Restore us again, O God of our salvation,
and put away your indignation toward us!
5 Will you be angry with us forever?
Will you prolong your anger to all generations?
6 Will you not revive us again,
that your people may rejoice in you?
7 Show us your steadfast love, O Lord,
and grant us your salvation.
NOTE: The Psalmists ask (in verse 6), "Will you not revive us again,…?" I think it is too late. But there is a timing concern with current thought on Eschatology (the doctrine of future things). The tribulation begins with the signing of the peace treaty between Israel and the antichrist. Believers are told that God will rescue (snatch up) us from the wrath to come. So how much time is between the rapture and the start of the tribulation? When do the 144K Jewish witnesses come to Christ? Is it possible some will come to Christ in the inter-Church age / Tribulation age?
A corollary might help here. The law ended at the cross. But the Holy Spirit was not given until Pentecost 49 days (7 weeks) later. There is a question as to when the church age started since the Holy Spirit had not been given until Pentecost, but the written law had already been crucified on the cross. Not that I think these dates mean anything, but are more of just an interesting point -- in 2033, the feast of trumpets (a possible day for rapture) is followed almost 49 days later by Christmas (a nice day for a peace treaty gift to the world). The year 2033 is 2000 years of the church age, roughly equivalent to 2000 years of the biblically dated period of pre-patriarchs, and then 2000 years of the patriarchs and the law. And with one more 1000, the millennial kingdom becomes a kind of rest. A thousand years is like a day to the Lord.
All of that is speculation, the real questions is "will you not revive us again." I still think it is too late, but maybe God in preparation for preparing hearts of future tribulation saints will pour out his mercy one more time. I hope so. In any case, we need to "be his witnesses … to the end of the age" and we need to "make disciples."
PONDER:
- How am I living? Am I using every opportunity to share my belief in Jesus?
- What is important to me, things or people?
PRAYER: Father, thank you for the opportunity the last week to share with multiple different people in totally different situations. I pray for grace to see those opportunities and have the boldness to share my love for you, and your love for the world.
