Notice on a slight format change:

Except for July 2012, these are mostly a collection of current devotional notes.

July 2012 is a re-write of old quiet times. My second child was born Nov 11, 1987 with multiple birth defects. I've been re-reading my QT notes from that time in my life, and have included them here. They cover the time before the birth and the few years immediately after the birth. They are tagged "historical." I added new insights and labeled them: ((TODAY, dd mmm yy)).

QT 13 Jul 2020, Hos 1:2, Loving the Creator not the works

Hosea 1:2 (ESV) — 2 When the Lord first spoke through Hosea, the Lord said to Hosea, “Go, take to yourself a wife of whoredom and have children of whoredom, for the land commits great whoredom by forsaking the Lord.”

NOTE: I can only imagine (and that quite poorly at that) the pain involved in marrying a woman who gives herself to whoredom and then has children of whoredom. How very painful to exist in that type of marriage relationship. To commit to love and then to not be loved, but for her love to be given to many others. All of this is a very true situation, but the intent was to illustrate God the Father's pain as Israel played the harlot to idols and disobeyed his commands. The very things that were intended to save them, destroyed them. Today, we are throwing off the foundations of God's moral law faster than anything. The definition of sex and marriage, established in the very beginning of creation are tossed on the garbage heap. People laugh at those who argue for its applicability and consider the defenders of God, stupid and not part of the elite (those who in their great intelligence have escaped such myths). Oh, what a sad planet we have. It is now living in hatred and sexual sin, and it is so very lost.

PRAYER: Father, forgive us for our foolish love of the things of creation and not the creator. You have given us so much. You are worthy of our love. Open our eyes to our foolishness.
