Notice on a slight format change:

Except for July 2012, these are mostly a collection of current devotional notes.

July 2012 is a re-write of old quiet times. My second child was born Nov 11, 1987 with multiple birth defects. I've been re-reading my QT notes from that time in my life, and have included them here. They cover the time before the birth and the few years immediately after the birth. They are tagged "historical." I added new insights and labeled them: ((TODAY, dd mmm yy)).

QT 29 Jul 2020, Hos 6:1-2, We need repentance before we can experience healing

Hosea 6:1–2 (ESV) —
1 “Come, let us return to the Lord;
for he has torn us, that he may heal us;
he has struck us down, and he will bind us up.
2 After two days he will revive us;
on the third day he will raise us up,
that we may live before him.

NOTE: I believe this verse is literal and refers to the period at the end of the tribulation period, an actual 3 days at the very end.

I wonder if it has a double meaning and is also prophetic where one day equals one thousand years. In which case, it takes two thousand years from the rejection of Christ to Israel's repentance. And then one thousand years of healing in the millennial kingdom. There are a lot of problems with this view. One, Israel's rejection and judgment started in 722BC with the destruction of the Northern Kingdom by Assyria. But it could refer to both Israel and Judah (the two kingdoms). Will the tribulation start in 2023 or 2026 (2000 years after the crucifixion minus 7 for the tribulation) or 2073 (2000 years after the destruction of the temple minus 7 for the tribulation length)? Each data is a significant event in Jewish history. The year 2026 is only 6 years away.

But all that is speculation. The real point of the passage is that repentance and healing is available to those who turn to God and repent of their sins. There is still hope for the lost. There is still redemption. There is still peace available to all who call upon the Lord from a pure heart.

PRAYER: Father, may we turn from our wickedness and sin. May we embrace the love you showed to us on the cross where your son died for our sins. May we experience the life-changing power of the risen Christ entering into our hearts. May your Holy Spirit work through us and in others to bring them to salvation.
