Matthew 13:58 (ESV) — And he did not do many mighty works there, because
of their unbelief.
|
After the
rejection described in Matt 12:22ff, Jesus' ministry changed. One of the
changes was that he required belief in order to perform a miracle. His family
and friends who knew him all his earthly life, reject him as the nation did.
They question his claims. Why? They had to know he was different. That he was
not just a good man, he was a different man. But instead, they take offense
at him. Certainly, familiarity breeds contempt, but does it also breed
stupidity?
|
Father, may we
never become so "bored" by the miracles that you are working in our
life. Help us to appreciate the wonder of life and the faith of a child.
Protect us from our cynical and critical and unbelieving attitude in life.
Refresh us and make us new.

These are just some random entries from my quiet times. Not all are included, as some are private or not very interesting.
Notice on a slight format change:
Except for July 2012, these are mostly a collection of current devotional notes.
July 2012 is a re-write of old quiet times. My second child was born Nov 11, 1987 with multiple birth defects. I've been re-reading my QT notes from that time in my life, and have included them here. They cover the time before the birth and the few years immediately after the birth. They are tagged "historical." I added new insights and labeled them: ((TODAY, dd mmm yy)).
